May 16, 2019 – BOSTON – LABUR has been named one of Inc. magazine’s Best Workplaces for 2019 for having one of the highest-scoring businesses with standout employee engagement.
Hitting newsstands May 28 in the June 2019 issue, and as part of a prominent Inc.com feature, the list is the result of a wide-ranging and comprehensive measurement of private American companies that have created exceptional workplaces through vibrant cultures, deep employee engagement, and stellar benefits. Collecting data on nearly 2,000 submissions, Inc. singled out 346 finalists.
Each nominated company took part in an employee survey, conducted by Omaha’s Quantum Workplace, on topics including trust, management effectiveness, perks, and confidence in the future. Inc. gathered, analyzed, and audited the data. They then ranked all of the employers using a composite score of survey results. This year, 74.2 percent of surveyed employees were engaged by their work—besting last year’s 72.1 percent.
“We have worked diligently and purposefully over the last 10-plus-years to create a workplace that we believe to be highly genuine, and yet based on very simple principles – work hard and treat people right,” said Seth Burr, COO and co-founder of LABUR. “It’s a huge honor to have our workplace recognized for being one of the best and to be named to such a prestigious list.”
All participating companies had to have a minimum of 10 employees, be based in the U.S., and be privately held and independent—that is, not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies.
Distinct themes of the finalists, as observed by Inc. and Quantum, include:
- 99 percent provide health insurance—and some cover the cost.
- 49 percent allow employees to bring pets to work.
- 65 percent take employees to offsite retreats to relax and recharge.
- 16 percent offer paid sabbaticals to reward length of service.
Inc. and Quantum also observed that the strongest engagement scores came from companies that prioritize the most human elements of work, including employee recognition, performance management, and diversity.
"With today's tight labor market, building a great corporate culture is more important than ever,” says Inc. Editor in Chief James Ledbetter. “The companies on Inc.'s Best Workplaces list are setting an example that the whole country can learn from.”

FEB. 28, 2019 – BOSTON – Yesterday, Staffing Industry Analysts, the global advisor on staffing and workforce solutions, announced LABUR as a 2019 Best Staffing Firm to Work For winner. LABUR is the North America Grand Prize Winner for the Best Staffing Firm to Temp For/Contract For.
The winners comprise those companies who scored in the top quartile in each of the contest categories, and the Grand Prize Winners reflect the highest scoring organizations. The award, which is given annually by Staffing Industry Analysts (SIA), recognizes employers for their top performance in engaging their employees and creating a workplace conducive to talent development, enjoyment, collaboration and productivity, and for the support and opportunity they provide to their consultants.
“Congratulations to the winners of this year’s Best Staffing Firm to Work For Awards,” said Barry Asin, President of SIA. “These high-performing companies stand out for their quality of leadership and as organizations that prioritize culture and employee engagement. There is a strong correlation between employee engagement and growth. These firms have made that connection and use it to excel in their business and drive outstanding results.”
Last year, LABUR was also named a Best Staffing Firm to Temp For and Work For winner.
“We are so proud to have made this incredible list two years in a row, and especially honored this year to have won the North America Grand Prize as the Best Staffing Firm to Temp For,” said Darrin Lang, CEO and Co-Founder of LABUR. “Everything we do at LABUR is centered around the relationships we have, with each other, with our consultants and with our clients. This recognition means so much because it honors those critically important relationships.”
Approximately 400 firms sought participation in the program this year, which was conducted by SIA in conjunction with Quantum Workplace. Internal employees were asked to complete a 40-question online survey that measured 10 key engagement categories focusing on items including teamwork, trust in senior leaders, feeling valued, manager effectiveness, compensation and benefits. There is no charge for participation and companies completing the survey receive a report highlighting their firm’s results. A similar survey was also sent to consultants.
In order to gather statistically sound results, participating companies must have reached a minimum level of employee and consultant participation, based on their total number of employees and those who temp for the organization. Companies were ranked in size categories according to their overall score. Winners were chosen based entirely on the survey results.

BOSTON – March 15, 2018 – Today LABUR announced it has been named as a 2018 Best Staffing Company to Work and Temp For winner. The award is given annually by Staffing Industry Analysts (SIA), the global advisor on staffing and workforce solutions, and recognizes employers for their top performance in engaging their employees and creating a workplace conducive to talent development, enjoyment, collaboration and productivity, and for the support and opportunity they provide to their consultants.
LABUR provides domain expertise at the intersection of business and technology through two primary service offerings: advisory services and tailored staff augmentation. "Our vision is to be the partner of choice for the most admired companies and the most talented professionals; for those who are looking for more than staff augmentation, and for a true partner," said Darrin Lang, CEO and Co-Founder, LABUR. "This acknowledgement by our consultants and staff means that we're delivering on that promise of being a true partner to everyone we're in business with."

BOSTON – August 30, 2017 – Gradifi, a leader in student loan pay down benefits programs, today announced that 20 more companies in August signed up to offer Gradifi’s SLP Plan™ (Student Loan Paydown) benefit to employees.
Gradifi’s new clients include LABUR, Sebak and Monner Associates, Michael Jordan Appraisals Inc., Everest Global Services Inc., and NoTime2Chill. These companies join progressive workplaces currently offering the SLP Plan, such as PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Peloton and Penguin Random House.
Gradifi has agreements with more than 170 companies across the U.S. for its innovative student loan repayment program. In the past two months, 40 companies have agreed to offer Gradifi’s SLP plan, which enables employers to make a monthly contribution to pay down an employee’s debt.
For an employee with a loan balance of $26,500 – the median amount borrowed for a bachelor’s degree – a $100 per month employer contribution for a loan at 4% over 10 years would save over $10,000 in principal and interest. The employer contribution would result in a 30% reduction in total payments, and the loan would be paid off three years faster.
Seth Burr, co-founder and COO of Boston-based LABUR, LLC., said, “For us, offering this plan to our employees was a no-brainer. If we have associates who are distracted by thoughts of things like how they are going to pay off their student loan debt, they are less focused and less likely to be as successful as they could be if they didn’t have the stress of those outside thoughts. We established LABUR as a way to influence how other people achieve success. This is a tool to help us do that.”
Tim DeMello, founder and CEO of Gradifi, said, “A growing number of people with student loan debt are putting off major life decisions. Employers who offer a student loan repayment benefit not only help their employees, but also gain a clear competitive advantage in recruiting highly skilled workers burdened by student loan debt.”
